Nestled in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, Branch Brook Park is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, photographers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Spanning 359 acres, it holds the title of the largest county park in the U.S. and boasts the nation’s largest collection of cherry blossom trees—even more than Washington, D.C.!.

Why Visit Branch Brook Park?

The Best Time to Visit
The park is spectacular in all seasons, but if you want to witness the cherry blossoms in full bloom, plan your visit between April 15 – 30. The trees burst into vibrant pinks and whites, creating a fairytale-like landscape. Fall (October-November) is equally mesmerizing, with golden foliage, while winter (December-February) turns the park into a snowy wonderland.
Branch Brook Park gets its name from a branch brook that once flowed through the valley into the nearby Passaic River. While the stream and much of the natural landscape still exist, the park is best known today for its spectacular collection of over 4,000 cherry trees—surpassing even the famed cherry blossoms of Washington, D.C.

The park offers breathtaking scenery, with picturesque spots throughout. The cherry blossoms surrounding the lake create a particularly enchanting view. Additionally, the sight of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart from across the water is truly stunning, especially when bathed in the warm glow of a golden sunset.
